Trying to find good health information with most search engines is currently a joke (3/15/05) Try it yourself on Google, Jeeves, MSN, or yahoo. Name a specific medicine or bodily affliction and you'll get swamped with a list of questionable sites.

The engines have finaly managed to avoid most adult sites, but offshore drug sales sites, pharmaceutical company promotion sites (or sponsored fan clubs), multi-level herbal remedy promoters, and people who are sour about things that have gone wrong for them where they might be ill informed.

The internet does offer some GREAT health and medical topic sites. Doctors and other experts on health and medicine have written extensive advice and reports that you can read for free on the web.

Ther are informed desriptions of drugs and thier side effects, tips on coping with illness and injury, and guidlines for maintaing one's health.

Search.com's general wellnes page lets you type your topic anc check the Web's best wellness sites all at once.

Their medical access point also allows one click choices on common problems(diabetes, lung cancer, and dieting for example)

I really like the way they list the respected medical and health sites below their search box and how they give YOU, the user, the abilty to check those sources on and off . As of (March 2005) : Hardin MD, Intelihealth, WebMD, HealthCentral, MeSH, Healthfinder.

Making a decision or not is up to you, but the page's layout points out the health, nutrition, and medical sites it will rely on in answering your question. Ideally, they would list other good, but secondary sites with uncheck defaults under their primary sites.

It is a great resource on health, fitness and medicine.
